Many positive discussions and resolutions made at AGM, which was superbly hosted by Honda
The 2016 SGMW Annual General Meeting took place in February at an event kindly hosted by Honda. The talented PR team of Karen Parry, Simon Branney, Ellie Ostinelli and David Rogers were joined by the new Honda press fleet manager, Tom Lynch, making his debut at a press event. So was the AGM a baptism of fire for him? Late-night discussions about roller-skating llamas might perhaps suggest so…
We were lucky enough to be joined at dinner by Phil Webb (head of cars) and Nick Campolucci (head of bikes), whose ‘Honda Insights’ were fascinating. Honda also kindly provided Civic Type R test cars for members to drive the following day.
SGMW members enjoyed the excellent venue, the Runnymede Hotel in Egham. It is within walking distance of the site of the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215, so several of us visited that historic spot during the two-day event.
While what we were discussing may not have had the magnitude of the Magna Carta, there were many positive discussions at the AGM.
Two excellent pieces of news were that a new Events Co-ordinator was voted in unanimously: Ian Robertson, who has superhumanly agreed to perform twin roles as Secretary and Events maestro for 2016-17.
We also welcomed a new Editor for our newsletter, Southbound, Claire Evans, who takes over the reins from Dave Randle, who has been in the role for a heroic seven years.
