Following the success of the Southern Group’s first Breakfast Boost meet-up at North Weald Airfield near Epping in Essex, we started our programme for 2018 with the second of what is expected to become a regular series of get-togethers. The Breakfast Boost is – literally – a movable feast intended to be held at different locations around the region in order to bring the Group closer to its members, their families and their friends, so this month, we moved south of London and the Thames to Surrey. Our venue was the Red Barn in Lingfield, a location well known to most Southern Group members as it has served several times as a venue for Renault’s regional driving days in the South. As the name suggests, the pub is converted from a 300 year old barn. Most of the original wooden structure of the barn is visible in the interior – in particular the elaborate roof structure. A crackling fire completes the rustic atmosphere, at least during the winter months. On a more practical level the Red Barn also has an enormous car park, which makes it a good spot for any sort of motoring get-together.
15 attendees, including friends and families, turned up this time and there’ll be another on the 8th April, with venue still to be sussed out.
