Southern Group of Motoring Writers has new chairman
07/05/10
Pressure of work has forced Southern Group chairman Kevin Haggarthy to resign but fortunately media grandee, Sue Baker has stepped into the breach and was unanimously voted into the top job at the recent AGM generously hosted by Mercedes-Benz at its stunning 'World' at Brooklands.
Outgoing chairman Kevin said: "I retire looking to an even busier portfolio of magazine and broadcasting work this year, but with absolute support for Sue Baker who will make an excellent and deserving chair, with the backing of current committee members. I could not have wished for better support and as a result I am very happy to stand by Sue's side as vice-chairman but would readily concede the role to someone with enthusiasm and commitment who will help Sue as she helped me and hopefully be ready to take over from Sue at the end of her term"
At the same AGM, the membership agreed unanimously in his absence that Paul Harris should be invited to join the committee as events secretary, an invitation that he graciously accepted on his return. Jackie Violet continues as Treasurer and Dave Randle as secretary.
